Charles is a doctoral candidate in the Higher Education and Student Affairs program at the University of Iowa. He is also the current President of Hubbard Scholars. He is also a proud member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. In his free time, he likes to play basketball and enjoys all forms of competition. Most recently when he is not working on his doctoral research he is playing the new Marvel’s Avengers game. His favorite Marvel Hero is Black Panther but Iron Man is a distant second. He looks forward to working with students soon.

Anthony is an Iowa City native studying Ethics & Public Policy at the University of Iowa; where he is working towards a BA. His field specialization is sociology, with an emphasis on criminology. He also maintains minors in economics and African American studies, alongside a certificate in sustainability. He currently serves as the president of his campus’ chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. He is an avid fan of backpacking and camping, loves dogs, and enjoys strategy games.

Myran is from Matteson, Illinois. He is a business analytics major and is pursuing a certificate in entrepreneurial management. He is the community outreach manager for Hubbard Scholars. He is a member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. He likes to play basketball. Kobe Bryant is the G.O.A.T... Allen Iverson is very close. Fun Fact: He met Giannis Antetekumpo before he was a NBA Superstar. He likes to play video games on the PS4 in his free time. He looks forward to connecting with the students soon.

Ezra is from Des Moines, Iowa, and is currently studying Political Science and Ethics and Public Policy on a Pre-Law Track at the University of Iowa. He is the Vice President of Hubbard Scholars and Treasurer for Black Student Union. He likes to meet new people and learn about what people like. He likes to watch Anime and is somewhat of a nerd when it comes to video games and movies, specifically superhero and godzilla movies. In his freetime he likes to hang out with his friends and laugh.

Tommy Clay

Tommy is from Kansas City, Missouri. He is currently studying Clinical Psychology and African American Studies at the University of Iowa. He has obtained an Associates Degree in Psychology from Eastern Iowa Community College. Tommy currently is the head of Public Relations for the Black Student Union at the University of Iowa. He is also on the Hubbard Scholars Executive Team as a strategic marketing chair for the organization. Tommy’s interests include reading, watching anime, talking with people and learning new information.

Terry Saul III is from Bettendorf, Iowa. He is a senior majoring in Business with a minor in Philosophy. In his free time, he enjoys working out, watching and playing sports, listening to music and reading books on financial literacy and philosophy. He is tutoring because he believes that education and academic excellence are needed to create and secure future success in Black communities.

Primary Tutoring Subjects

  • ​Language Arts/ English:​ The tutor demonstrates an understanding of the language arts. This can be anything from reading to writing and the understanding of grammar.

  • ​Mathematics:​ The tutor demonstrates an understanding of K-12 mathematics. This includes an understanding of algebra, geometry, and calculus.

  • History: ​The tutor demonstrates an understanding of historical narratives in this country and around the world. This includes an understanding of how history has played out over the years and the implications it has for our present-day society.

  • ​Science:​ The tutor demonstrates an understanding of a variety of aspects dealing with both natural and physical science.

  • Technology:​ The tutor demonstrates an understanding of how to use technology to perform better in the classroom. This includes a mastery of Zoom video conferencing software and any other technology-based support systems the student may use.
